Sending an offer to someone without an account

How the gifted-trial offer works — recipient language, trial length, the deadline you promise, re-sending, the status badges, and what happens if they sign up late.

You can reserve designs for a person who has no SquareBond account yet. We hold the designs, email them an offer, and hand the designs over when they sign up.

You start from a draft order. Pick the designs, set the recipient's email, and send. The recipient gets one email with the designs shown inside it and a sign-up link. Until they sign up, nobody else can take those designs.

Recipient language

Choose English or French before you send.

The recipient has no account, so we cannot know their language. You tell us. The choice controls three emails: the offer, the reminder two days before the deadline, and the welcome email after they sign up.

The selector starts on your own interface language when that is English or French. It starts on English otherwise. The value is always visible in the control, so you never send in a language you did not see.

You can pick a different language when you send the offer again. The new choice governs the new email.

Trial length

After you press send, a panel asks for the trial length. Choose between 1 and 90 days. The default is 7.

Above 14 days you must give a reason. We store the reason on the reserved items, so the recipient is never asked for it later.

Choosing the trial length

The trial starts when the recipient signs up, not when you send. A 21-day trial sent today gives 21 days from the day they claim it. That day can be a week away.

The trial length and the hold length are two different clocks. Whatever trial you choose, the designs are held for 7 days. A long trial does not lock the designs away from other customers while nobody claims them.

The deadline

Every offer guarantees the designs for at least 7 days.

The email names the exact date and time, in Paris time. It reads the real reservation, so the date in the email is the date the system will honour.

Two details are worth knowing:

  • If a design was already reserved for longer than 7 days, that longer hold stays. Sending an offer never shortens a reservation you set on purpose.
  • With a mixed set, the deadline is the earliest of the holds. It is the date all of the designs are still guaranteed together.

A reminder goes out automatically, two days before the deadline. You do not schedule it and you cannot send it twice. It uses the language you chose and shows the same designs.

The emails never mention a grace period. The deadline is a promise, and the recovery described further down is best-effort — so we do not advertise it.

After you send

The reservation and the email are two separate results. The panel tells you which one happened.

The send result

What you seeWhat it means
Offer sentThe designs are reserved and the email left our system.
Already sentThis offer was sent before. Nothing was sent twice.
Could not be sentThe designs are reserved, but no email went out. Check the details and try again.
Email delivery is pausedThe designs are reserved. Email sending is switched off, so nothing was sent.

Read the message. "Reserved" and "emailed" are not the same thing, and a reservation with no email is the one failure that looks like success.

Sending again

Press send again to send a second email. This is the right action when you mistyped the address, or when the first email got no answer.

A second send starts a fresh sequence. You can change the language and the trial length for it, and the reminder follows the new choice.

An accidental double-click does not send twice. The system claims the send slot before it does anything else, so the second click reserves nothing, writes nothing, and reports "Already sent".

Status badges

Your drafts lists show a badge for every live offer. You see the same badge on your own drafts, on affiliate drafts, and on the affiliate view of your drafts.

The offer badge on a draft card

BadgeMeaning
GuaranteedMore than two days left. The recipient has time.
Ending soonTwo days or less. The reminder has gone out, or goes out today.
In graceThe deadline has passed. The designs are back in the catalogue, but a sign-up can still recover the ones nobody took.
LapsedOver. Send the offer again to try once more.

The badge is a reading of the real reservation. It never changes the draft itself. A lapsed draft stays a draft, and its items stay pending.

A draft shows no badge when you never sent an offer, when the order is finished, or when the recipient has already claimed it and the trial is running.

If they sign up late

The guarantee ends on the deadline, and the designs go back into the catalogue. From that moment they are first come, first served.

For 7 more days, a sign-up still tries to take them back. Whatever is still free is re-reserved and the trial starts as normal.

Anything that somebody else has taken cannot come back. A design that was sold, put into a plan, or reserved to another person stays with them. We do not move a design away from the person who took it.

The recipient is always told which of the two happened. If a design could not be recovered, they see a message that says so, with a link to the catalogue. Silence was the old behaviour, and it is the thing this whole flow exists to remove.

After those 7 days, the offer is finished. Send it again if you still want to give them the designs.

Frequently asked questions

Does the recipient need a card?

No. The trial you gift captures no card and charges nothing. It is not the self-serve trial that a visitor starts from the catalogue.

Can I send an offer to somebody who already has an account?

Not as a gifted trial. For a customer with an account, the items go to their cart instead, and they have 48 hours to check out. That is a different flow with its own deadline.

The recipient says they never got the email.

Check the address first — a mistyped address is by far the most common cause. Correct it and send again. A corrected address is treated as a new recipient, so the second email really does go out.

Can I make the hold longer than 7 days?

Not from the offer itself. Reserve the item for longer first, then send the offer. Sending never shortens a hold you already set.

What happens to the designs if nobody signs up?

They are released automatically and return to the catalogue. Nothing is lost on your side — the draft stays, and you can send it again.
